Ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM) is a non-destructive method to monitor steel thickness of plating, tanks, decks and various places of ships and other offshore constructions. This type of measurement is typically performed with an ultrasonic thickness gauge (UTG) which posses the ability to gauge thickness measurement without requiring access to both sides of the test piece.
